Black Diamond is situated within the scenic Monongahela National Forest and the stunning Dolly Sods Wilderness. Perfectly positioned between Timberline Ski Resort, just 1 mile to the east, and Canaan Valley Golf & Ski Resort, 1 mile to the west, it offers easy access to a range of outdoor activities. The nearby Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, only half a mile east, is an excellent gateway to explore the natural splendors of the valley, including the Blackwater Falls, which is renowned for its easy, yet rewarding hike.

Deep Creek Lake, the heart of McHenry, offers year-round enjoyment for visitors of all ages. During the warmer months, the lake is ideal for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, boating, and fishing.
